Overview
I partenered up with the Honduran brand Seven Cigars to design the packaging for their upcoming ''Cutlass cigars'' line. The cutlass cigars are the brand's take on a slimmer, shorter and flavored handmade tobacco cigar. This type of cigar is known for being lighter to smoke and more accesible to consumers, as it does not use premium tobacco leaves. Seven provided me with the box die cut and the overall concept.
Approach
Given that Honduras has a Caribbean coast and a historically infamous pirate port in the north, the brand wanted to concept the cigar line as Cutlass–the smaller weapon used by pirates–symbolizing that these cigars are smaller than a full-sized cigar.
Seven wanted to create small boxes to hold five cutlass cigars each. The idea was to depict one pirate per flavor. This was an interesting project, and I also had to brush off some 3d skills to bring the boxes to life.
